LUKE WELCH

Luke is an actor, comedian, and musician from the North-West of England, and has lived in Dumfries & Galloway since 2012.

Luke participated in weekly drama workshops at Studio Moffat (formerly Moffat Youth Theatre) from the ages of 12-15. He also led and supported workshops for young people while participating in a pilot scheme for a Drama Leaders Award run by the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2022. He received a Gold Award for Performance and Leadership for his efforts the following year.

Luke is still actively involved with Studio Moffat and is now a director of their sister organisation, Make/Change Collective - a Community Interest Company that brings people together to spark creativity and positive change in local communities. Luke is particularly involved with Soundwave - a project formed by Liam Russell in 2023 to enable young people to collaborate and discover their musical talents. Alongside other local musicians, he helped develop two singles, ‘Last Protest’ and ‘Fever’, which can be listened to on various streaming platforms.

Luke completed a short online Digital Promotion for Business course with Glasgow Kelvin College in 2022, and has volunteered with organisations such as Tweedsmuir Community Company and The Usual Place. In July 2025, he completed a History course with the Open University, earning an Upper Second-Class Degree.

Luke has enjoyed the art of comedy from a young age, and having been inspired by several comedians in recent years, has performed stand-up comedy routines in Dumfries, Glasgow, Newton Stewart and the Wigtown Book Festival.

Luke has also been involved in numerous theatre shows in recent years including Much Ado at the Multiverse with Bear Pursuit Theatre Company (formed by members of PCS), Return to Talbot Manor with Dunscore Amateur Dramatic Society, Aladdin with the Guild of Players, Calendar Girls The Musical with Dumfries Musical Theatre Company and Unicorn Dance Party.
